The unfinished look that you are talking about is really just the style of the artist .Rodin was contemporary of the Impressionist painters and models his clay with a very "impressionist'" loose touch. in other words the figure are not meant to be anatomical studies .They are the work of a true master that was able to develop a unique visual language all his own
