Is there such a product as this? (For wood carving)?
Hi, I'm wondering if anyone knows of a product that would strengthen areas of short grain on wood carvings? Something that you could brush on, or even dip the carving into and it would soak in and make it stronger...
I don't know of any, but I thought I'd ask here.
Thanks!
There's a real easy solution that will amaze you - super glue. Coat the area with the super glue. Let it dry prior to painting, although in the time it takes you to turn away to get the spray for the second step it will have hardened sufficiently. The second step is to spray the area you just super glued with an instant dry spray which you can pick up at any wood supply store, like a lumber supply company. Just tell them what you're trying to do and they'll point you in the right direction.
I'm in the house right now, but when I get to my shop tomorrow (I'm a woodcarver with my own gallery) I'll try to remember to come back on and give you the name of the spray I use.
Hope that helps.
