Grazie mille

A person who is very interested in Italian culture.

Q.1) In all the seasons Montalbano speaks Italian with strong Sicilian accent (and only few words of Sicilian dialect, because otherwise it wouldn't be understandable by every non-sicilian like me).

Q.2) Yes, they do. A little bit difficult for old people (like my folks) more accustomed to a dialect than Italian.

Q.3) Uhm... i have never seen "I Cesaroni", but i know that actor. He is from Rome and speaks with strong roman accent. Still i believe they speak italian for the same reason Montalbano speaks Italian - it wouldn't be understandable for non-romans.

Q.4) I Cesaroni is a dumb show, while Montalbano is beautiful for scenoraphy and for the story (Camilleri is one of the best Italian writers) but i bet Cesaroni language is easier than Montalbano because the stories are easier to understand.

Q.5) Alex Britti and Tiziano Ferro do not have any accent while they sing. Eros Ramazzotti has a weird voice, but it's not a regional accent. Nek and Laura have Emilia romagna accent.

Q.6) Yes i have. Uhm... they speak kind of slow. Their S sounds kind of italian Z... .for example they say "Zvizzera" and not "Svizzera"... i don't know if you get it... the Z of Zvizzera is like when i say "cazzo"... Also they have strange accent. A family that I met in Lugano, said something like this, "Te prepari la pa-sh-ta cul pe-sh-to". Lot of their words are very similar to Lombard dialect, although they sound more like... how can i say.... funny!

Anyway, I see when you speak about un-accented Italian you are meaning "Tuscan Italian"? That's not the regular italian. Italian came from Tuscan dialect, but then the two languages evolved separately, so that there are some structures that are commonly used by tuscans but they are uncorrect in Italian... for example they use impersonal structures on personal sentences. Here is one example: "We all go to McDonald's" (which is a personal sentence, infact the subject is "WE ALL"), in italian you would say "Andiamo tutti da McDonald's". In Tuscany you would hear people say something like "Noi si va tutti da McDonald's", which is not italian. Moreover they have those strange sounds with the hard and sweet "C"... "Cosa c'e'", in italian would sound like "Hosa sh-e'" in tuscan.
