What color should I paint my walls with a brown and black motif in furnishing and light wooden floors?
I've got a pretty old house, and pretty awful floors, but my roommate and I are trying to spruce it up a bit with some color. The couch is a beigish brown, and we've two rectangular black carpets with ottomans (is that the plural?) to match. We have very high ceilings. I was doing some research, and came up with the basic idea of beige walls with a light (but well-saturated) blue accent. Does that make sense? Would it look awful? What would you suggest?
Additional note: I was thinking of getting all artsy with it and matching the minimalist floor coverings (two small carpets) with a minimalist accent, with maybe two perfectly vertical stripes of the accent color. Yeah or nay?
With beige and brown couch and black carpets I would either suggest some shade of brown and lighter shade of beige for your walls. you can also paint one wall dark and the rest in lighter tones.
As you have mentioned high ceilings than you should go for wall hangings or murals digitally printed ones are cheaper and looks as good as the originals. If you have huge space you should definitely go for it.
P.S.
You can always remove the black carpets and get some colors like dark chocolate or maroonish browns for the room.
