Being raised during the colonial period in Macau, I’m eager to learn more about China. During the colonial period, although Chinese history classes were as well offered in Macau middle schools, the discussion about the post-Qing dynasty was often ignored. I bet there are very few Macou students (even though the colonial period is over) know much about China’s society and politics. For example, many students in Macou know that Dr. Sun Yat-sen was the forerunner of Chinese revolution but they may not know much about the significant things he did. My knowledge of modern China is awfully limited as a Chinese, and therefore I hope this class can help me fill up the information gap that I eagerly need.
