Looking for informtion on an artist, A. Foretay.?
My Grandfather had an bronze ashtray in his law office shaped like a grape leaf with a beautiful woman holding a part of the leaf over her breast. It may be art deco because the figure is romantic with long flowing hair. The piece is signed A. Foretay on the top center right.
Alfred Jean Foretay - Swiss (1861-1944)
Quote:
Foretay was a student of Falguirene and exhibited
statuettes and portraits at the Salons ca.1900. He
also received an honorable mention in 1891 and
3rd class medal in 1904.
